Our Top 5 Things To Do This Weekend in Melbourne

Need an excuse to get outdoors, enjoy the sunshine and plan a day out with friends or family, then this following post will give 5 great reasons to do just that.

Spring means Melbourne is jam packed with things to do around the city. From music events to food festivals and arts and culture programs, the city truly does come alive, and this weekend is no different with a bounty of things to do. So if delicious food, and arts and crafts, and a great atmosphere is right up your alley then keep reading to see what’s on this weekend.

Flemington Craft Market

Sunday 21st 9am-2pm

Held once a month this Craft Market features everything from fruit and vegetables, sweets and savoury delights, to a great selection of hand made goods and crafts. It has a wide array of stallholders that all celebrate the reason why we love to support local. You’ll meet the farmers and the people behind the product, putting a face to the name and get to know the journey behind the product. It’s a great way to experience a sense of community and move away from shopping at large malls and big complexes and get back to the basics.

Spring Fling Festival

Sunday 2st 10am-6p

Located in North Melbourne the Spring Fling Festival boasts everything that’s great about Melbourne. Stall holders line the streets of North Melbourne , with cafes and vendors opening their doors to celebrate everything about Local arts, food and culture. There’s live entertainment, music and food and a great community atmosphere to boot.

Carlton Italian Festa

Sunday 21st 11am-9pm

Pizza. Pasta. Need I say more? The inaugural Carlton Italian Festa is back this year with Lygon street playing host to great food, and a great atmosphere. Celebrate everything Italian with entertainment and food for the whole family.

Docklands Blues Festival

Saturday 20th 11am-3pm

With the event being a huge success last year the Docklands Blues Music festival is back bigger and better this year. Boasting some great names in the Blues music industry, vendors and artists alike will grove you through a jam packed day of fun, sun, and some great entertainment. A perfect event for the whole family.

Arbory Afloat

7.30am-Late

Lastly but certainly not least is Arbory Afloat. From the people behind The Arbory, Arbory Afloat is a temporary bar that floats on the edge of the Yarra from Spring all the way through Summer. Open from morning to late you can indulge in some much needed sunshine for breakfast, a brunch with friends or catch up for late afternoon drinks. With amazing views right down the Yarra River and of South Bank Promenade it’s the perfect way to kick start your social season, or even some much needed ‘me’ time. Take a visit for morning, lunch or dinner- the choice is yours.

With 5 great things to see and do this weekend it would be silly to waste it at home, so grab some friends, the family and even the dog and absorb yourself into some great community events. Support local, buy local and enjoy everything ‘Melbournians’ have to offer.
